BESS Battery Energy Storage System for all your needs!

Whenever we try to search for a better battery solution, we hit a wall. Whether it is the diesel generators or the lead-acid batteries, they have their downfall.

Like any generator type, diesel generators have some disadvantages.

BESS - Battery Energy Storage System

Cons of using one include:

The installation process: Some studies have shown that diesel generators cost more and take more time to set up during the initial installation process. These costs can account for up to a quarter of the price of the relatively inexpensive generator.

This should be a consideration when selecting a generator. Because of the noise that diesel generators produce, they are placed away from workplaces. Today, there are also soundproof barriers that business owners can use to reduce the sound in the workplace.

Setting up a diesel generator can cost more on the outset than other generator types. However, since the cost of running and maintaining a diesel generator is very low, you might find it the more economical choice over time compared to a gas-powered one.

You should keep in mind that fuel may not be accessible during a blackout. You don’t want to find yourself without a power source, so remember to keep a supply of diesel fuel on-hand at all times to avoid disruption to your operation.

One of the major drawbacks of diesel generators is that they produce carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxide, particulate matter, and other dangerous exhausts that release into the atmosphere. Those concerned about environmental sustainability might find that a natural gas generator is a better option since it is a cleaner-burning fuel.

Bulk: While extremely sturdy, diesel engines are made from big and heavy components that can make repairs expensive. However, this can often be mitigated by the low maintenance requirements and fuel efficiency.

It doesn’t make much of a difference when it comes to Lead Acid batteries.

Drawbacks or disadvantages of Lead Acid Battery

Following are the disadvantages of Lead Acid Battery:
➨Lead is heavier compared to alternative elements.
➨Lead Acid Battery has low specific energy, poor weight to energy ratio.
➨It can be charged slowly i.e. fully saturated charge takes 14 to 16 hours.
➨LA Battery must be stored in the charged condition in order to prevent sulfation.
➨It has limited cycle life. Moreover repeated deep cycling reduces battery life.
➨The flooded version of the battery requires watering.
➨It is not environmentally friendly.
➨There are transportation restrictions on the flooded type.
