Position Summary

  • We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to oversee the commissioning activities for a power plant project, specifically focusing on photovoltaic plants. The Commissioning Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining Commissioning Plans and procedures for the project. The ideal candidate must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in the commissioning of photovoltaic plants, with a demonstrated track record in managing commissioning processes for projects with an aggregate peak capacity of more than 100 MW, including at least one (1) photovoltaic plant more than 30 MW.

  Responsibilities

    • Develop, implement, and maintain Commissioning Plans and procedures for the power plant project, ensuring they align with industry standards, project specifications, and regulatory requirements.
    • Coordinate with project stakeholders, including engineers, contractors, and subcontractors, to establish commissioning requirements and timelines.
    • Oversee the commissioning process from planning to execution, ensuring all systems, equipment, and components are thoroughly tested, inspected, and verified for proper functioning.
    • Develop commissioning schedules, resource plans, and budgets, and ensure efficient utilization of resources during the commissioning phase.
    • Collaborate with the construction team to ensure that all commissioning activities are coordinated and aligned with the construction schedule.
    • Review and approve commissioning procedures, test scripts, and performance criteria to ensure they meet project requirements and industry standards.
    • Conduct pre-functional checks and inspections to verify readiness for commissioning activities.
    • Coordinate with equipment suppliers and subcontractors to ensure proper installation, calibration, and testing of equipment during the commissioning phase.
    • Conduct or oversee commissioning tests, including functional tests, performance tests, and reliability tests, and ensure that they are conducted according to the approved procedures and standards.
    • Document and track commissioning activities, test results, and issues identified during the commissioning process.
    • Lead troubleshooting efforts to resolve technical issues and non-conformities identified during commissioning, coordinating with relevant stakeholders to implement corrective actions.
    • Prepare commissioning reports and provide updates on the commissioning progress to project stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with the Operations and Maintenance team to ensure a smooth transition from commissioning to operations phase.
    • Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to commissioning of photovoltaic plants.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical/mechanical engineering, renewable energy, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining Commissioning Plans and procedures on photovoltaic solar projects.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of photovoltaic plant commissioning processes, procedures, and industry standards.
  • Proven experience in managing commissioning activities for photovoltaic plants with an aggregate peak capacity of more than 100 MW, including at least one (1) photovoltaic plant more than 30 MW.
  • Familiarity with electrical systems, equipment, and components used in photovoltaic plants.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to develop and manage commissioning schedules, budgets, and resources.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve commissioning-related issues.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and project stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent documentation and reporting skills.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to commissioning activities.
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications and tools for commissioning.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Willingness to travel to project site (Angola).
