Position Summary
- We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the execution of a power plant project, specifically focusing on photovoltaic plants. The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the project, from planning and design to construction and commissioning. The ideal candidate must have an engineering background, with specific training in solar photovoltaic technology and project management fundamentals. They should have a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in project management of solar and/or thermal, hydro, and other sources of energy, with a strong background in the construction of solar photovoltaic plants. Additionally, a minimum of three (3) years of experience working for the Owner’s Engineer in similar assignments is required.
Responsibilities

- Lead and manage the overall execution of the power plant project, ensuring adherence to project objectives, timelines, quality standards, and safety regulations.
- Develop and implement project management plans, including project schedules, resource plans, and budgetary controls.
- Coordinate and collaborate with project stakeholders, including engineers, contractors, subcontractors, design consultants, and the Owner’s Engineer, to ensure effective communication and coordination throughout the project lifecycle.
- Oversee the design development, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and track project progress, identify potential risks and issues, and implement timely and effective mitigation measures.
- Manage and allocate project resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to optimize project execution.
- Ensure that the project is delivered within the allocated budget, monitoring project costs, and implementing cost control measures.
- Provide regular project status updates and reports to senior management and the Owner’s Engineer, highlighting project milestones, risks, and mitigation strategies.
- Foster a collaborative and productive working environment, promoting teamwork and effective communication among project team members.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including the Owner, regulatory agencies, suppliers, and contractors.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, contract requirements, and applicable regulations.
- Collaborate with the Owner’s Engineer to provide technical expertise, guidance, and support throughout the project lifecycle.
- Conduct site visits and inspections as required, ensuring that construction activities align with project plans and quality standards.
- Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in solar photovoltaic systems and project management.
Qualifications
- Engineering background, preferably with a degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
- Specific training in solar photovoltaic technology and project management fundamentals is desirable.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in project management of solar and/or thermal, hydro, and other sources of energy.
- Extensive experience in the construction of solar photovoltaic plants, including projects with an aggregate peak capacity of more than or equal to the Project size, and at least one (1) photovoltaic plant more than or equal to 30% of the Project size.
- At least three (3) years of experience working for the Owner’s Engineer in similar assignments.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead and manage complex projects within budgetary and timeline constraints.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of successfully delivering projects and managing multidisciplinary teams.
- Sound knowledge of solar photovoltaic systems, design principles, construction techniques, and industry standards.
- Proven experience in managing project budgets, cost controls, and procurement processes.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Willingness to travel to the project site (Angola), the Owner’s offices, or other locations as required by the Owner.
